I’m a sucker for art museums. I would trade the most beautiful churches, the finest historical museums or the best shopping deals for a visit to an art museum any day of the week.
But the MAAT, Lisbon’s newest museum, isn’t just another art space. Designed by the architect Amanda Levete, the MAAT is a Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. And a work of art itself.
Located in the district of Belém, one of the most beautiful Lisbon neighborhoods, the MAAT offers also a great view both over the Tagus River and the city on its back.
This was actually one of my favorite things about the new building: the way it connects with the river without losing sight of the city.
Until March 2017, the admission to the MAAT, which includes also the Tagus Power Station, costs 5 euros. The entrance to the new building is free until the same date. You can find more about the museum and the exhibitions here.
