Why Do a Yoga Retreat in Florida?
Florida is one of the best yoga destinations in the US for so many reasons!
For starters, if you’re in the United States already, you don’t need to spend the extra money and time to fly to a foreign country to do a yoga retreat that will offer exactly what you’re looking for. You can find plenty of top-rated retreats right here in Florida.
Secondly, Florida’s weather and landscape make it one of the best places in the country for a yoga retreat.
The seasonally warm temperatures and plenty of beachfront locations will help you unwind with the sand beneath your toes and the sun shining on your skin.
Practice yoga on a beach and spend some of your free time swimming, soaking up the sun, or enjoying some delicious food.
Another benefit of choosing a yoga retreat in the state of Florida is that it has so much to offer tourists.
If you want, you can extend your stay by a few days to visit one of the many Florida theme parks, enjoy some extra time in the sand and waves, observe the natural wildlife in the area, or explore other parts of the state.
Best Places to Go on a Yoga Holiday in Florida
When you’re looking for the best place to go on a yoga vacation in Florida, there truly are a lot of wonderful options to take into account.
In fact, there are very few Florida cities that would be considered a poor choice.
Some of my favorite locations for a yoga retreat in the Sunshine State include Miami, the Florida Keys and Key West, Sanibel Island, Anna Maria Island, and Clearwater Beach.
Best Time to Go on a Florida Yoga Retreat
The best time to plan your Florida yoga retreat can vary depending on your temperature preferences, the specific location you choose, and whether you are looking to extend your vacation to visit other areas of the state.
Here is a little more information about traveling to Florida during each of the four seasons:
Spring:
Spring is often seen as one of the best times to visit Florida. Between March and May, the temperatures tend to be in the upper 70s to mid-80s for much of the time.
May can be a bit rainier than March and April, but overall, these three months are pretty perfect weather-wise throughout the state.
However, just be prepared for some crowds if you plan to hit any of the more touristy areas.
Summer:
Unless you like the heat, summer probably isn’t the best time to plan a Florida yoga retreat.
Expect the high temperatures to be in the 80s or 90s in many areas, and be prepared for rain showers starting in June.
Summer in Florida will also mean lots of crowds and more expensive lodging if you wish to extend your stay.
Fall:
Once fall starts and more families are back to work and school, the crowds will die down, usually by mid-September.
In the fall, the temperatures also drop slightly to a more comfortable range of mid 70s to upper 80s in many areas of the state.
However, if you’re visiting a coastal region, keep in mind that the fall, especially August through October, is generally the height of hurricane season.
Winter:
Winter in Florida is very different than winter in many other states.
While some are dealing with shoveling out after the latest snowstorm, the weather in Florida is much milder, with highs in the 60s or 70s.
Tourism during the winter months will also be lower, giving you more of an opportunity to visit some of the more popular areas in the state.

Attending a Yoga Retreat in Florida? Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!
As with any other kind of physical activity, joining a yoga retreat is not without its risks. While yoga is generally safe, accidents and injuries can happen anywhere and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be prepared for the worst, especially when you’re in a foreign country.
That’s why travel insurance is so important and you should never leave home without it! I use and recommend SafetyWing travel medical insurance for travelers, remote workers, and nomads.
They cover overseas medical assistance in case of accident or illness, a wide range of sports and activities including yoga, travel delay or interruption, lost checked luggage, emergency medical or political evacuation, natural disasters, and personal liability, at very competitive prices.
