I have a confession to make: I love writing my annual travel review, even if no one reads it – just kidding, please read it till the end!
No seriously, writing this really makes me look back and acknowledge everything I’ve accomplished in the last year. And it makes me even more grateful for all the things I’ve done and all the new places I’ve had the privilege to visit.
I also love new beginnings, and having a brand new year and brand new adventures to plan. And what an exciting year 2018 is promising to be.
But first, my travel year recap:
My 2017 best travel moments
Dublin, Ireland
I started 2017 with a short trip to Dublin, Ireland, including a road trip to the famous, and stunning, Cliffs of Moher.
The Emerald Isle cast a spell on me. And to prove it let me tell you this wasn’t my only visit to Ireland in 2017.

Basel, Switzerland
In February my boyfriend and I took a day trip to Basel, probably one of the most interesting Swiss cities.
This was our first-time visit, and we just wished we had more time to enjoy the charm of the Rhine and explore the unique Basel Fine Arts Museum.

Gruyères, Switzerland
In April we set out to explore Gruyères, in French-speaking Switzerland.
Famous for its cheese, Gruyères is also home to a scary alien bar and museum, and some delicious Swiss chocolate.

Vaduz, Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein had been on my travel bucket list for so long, and being so close there was really no excuse not to go. So 2017 was finally the year to explore it.
In May we took a day trip from Zurich to Vaduz, the capital of one of the smallest and least visited European countries.

Thailand
Thailand was definitely the highlight of my 2017 travel year.
My boyfriend and I spent the last two weeks of July partying in Bangkok, temple hopping in Chiang Mai, and relaxing in Koh Samui.
This was our first time in Asia and certainly not the last one.

Killarney, Ireland
I loved Ireland so much that I decided to go back in October.
In 2017, I attended my first travel blogging conference – TBEX Europe, held in Killarney, Ireland.
Besides a lot of learning and networking, there was also time for some exploring and pub crawling.

Portugal
My last trip of the year will be to my native country – I can’t believe I haven’t been back to Portugal for a whole year!
I’ll be spending Christmas in the Azores with my family, and entering the new year in Lisbon with my boyfriend, his family, and some of my closest friends.

My travel destinations for 2018
And now the moment you were all waiting for – okay, maybe it’s just me, but I’m really excited to share my travel plans for 2018.
This is going to be one of my best travel years so far, with at least four new countries and one new continent on my list. And these are my plans only for the first half of the year.
So far, my travel calendar for 2018 is looking like this:
Morocco
On January 1, I’ll be traveling solo to Tamraght, Morocco, where I’ll be attending a one-week surf and yoga retreat.
This is something I wanted to do for a long time and Morocco will be the perfect country to surf some (hopefully easy!) waves, meditate, and explore a new culture.

Mozambique
In March, I’ll be ticking off another country that has been on my bucket list for ages: Mozambique.
I’ll be attending a friend’s wedding and getting together with my college girlfriends, some of whom I haven’t seen for a really long time – no, I won’t say for how long…
But believe me, this is going to be epic.
Hungary
In May, my boyfriend and I will be spending three days in Budapest, Hungary.
This will be another first-time visit for me, and I have big expectations about Budapest.

Netherlands
In late May, I’m planning to attend a travel blogging conference in Rotterdam and, of course, explore a bit of the Netherlands, another country I haven’t been to yet.
And that’s it for my travel plans for 2018, for now.
As I said, I haven’t planned for the second half of the year yet – I can’t plan so far in advance, and I don’t really want to.
But I’m sure it will be full of new opportunities and exciting projects. And I can’t wait to share it all with you.
