Why Do a Yoga Retreat in Morocco?
If you’ve never been to Morocco, you’re missing out on everything this wonderful African country has to offer. It truly is one of the top destinations for a yoga retreat and one of my personal favorites.
One reason you may want to consider a retreat in Morocco is the many beautiful beaches that you can enjoy. Depending on which part of the country you visit, you can swim in either the Atlantic Ocean or the Mediterranean Sea.
Beyond the stunning and warm beaches, Morocco also offers other amazing treats for the eyes with its gorgeous landscapes. You may be able to see the Atlas Mountains, the Rif Mountains, or Jbel Toubkal, the tallest mountain in the country.
Before or after your yoga retreat, you can even consider a visit to the stunning Sahara Desert, many of which begin from Morocco.
When traveling through Morocco, you’re also certain to notice the gorgeous architectural elements. You’ll notice many buildings with exceptional tile work, others with intricate carvings, and still others with impressive plasterwork. It will certainly be a lot to take in.
Another reason to consider visiting Morocco is the flavorful and delicious foods. From traditional couscous and tagine, breads such as baghrir and khobz, seafood, lamb, beef, and chicken, and delicious pastries, you won’t be lacking in exceptional cuisine to enjoy.
Best Time to Go on a Morocco Yoga Retreat
The best time to visit Morocco for a yoga retreat can vary based on where you’ll be heading and your temperature preferences.
Generally speaking, September through November and March through April are often seen as the best times to travel to Morocco. During these months, the weather will be nice and warm, but it will not be so hot that you become uncomfortable.
If you’re looking to do a retreat near the coastline and spend some time at a gorgeous Moroccan beach, then you may want to plan your trip between June and September. The weather in Morocco during these months will be much warmer for heading to the beach or taking a dip in the water.
That being said, Morocco is an all-year-round destination, with the winter months (December through February) being warm and mild and offering fewer crowds. I visited Morocco in January and the weather was amazing: just warm enough to enjoy some time at the beach but not mighty hot.

Attending a Yoga Retreat in Morocco? Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!
As with any other kind of physical activity, joining a yoga retreat is not without its risks. While yoga is generally safe, accidents and injuries can happen anywhere and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be prepared for the worst, especially when you’re in a foreign country.
That’s why travel insurance is so important and you should never leave home without it! I use and recommend SafetyWing travel medical insurance for travelers, remote workers, and nomads.
They cover overseas medical assistance in case of accident or illness, a wide range of sports and activities including yoga, travel delay or interruption, lost checked luggage, emergency medical or political evacuation, natural disasters, and personal liability, at very competitive prices.
