Why Do a Yoga Retreat in New York?
When most people think about New York, they immediately visualize New York City.
While there is a lot to see and do in one of the most exciting cities in the whole world, it may not be what you’re envisioning for a relaxing and rejuvenating yoga retreat.
However, there is so much more to New York state than what you see in New York City. When you travel to other areas of New York, you’ll find peace, quiet, relaxation, and wonderful views.
From the Adirondack Mountains in Northeast New York to the beautiful scenery of the Catskills Mountains to sandy beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and more, there truly are a lot of wonders to behold in New York.
Another reason to consider New York yoga retreats is the opportunity to extend your stay.
Spend more time taking in nature and exploring areas away from the city, or venture into the city to see a Broadway performance, visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art or the American Museum of Natural History, take the ferry out to Ellis Island and see the Statue of Liberty, or venture up to the top of the Empire State Building.
Best Places to Go on a Yoga Holiday in New York
As I mentioned above, there are a lot of excellent destinations to consider when you’re planning yoga retreats in New York state.
Some of my favorite New York retreat destinations include the Catskills Mountains, Saratoga Springs, and upstate New York.
Best Time to go on a New York Yoga Retreat
When you’re planning your yoga retreat in New York, you’ll want to consider the weather. Spring, summer, and fall are typically the best times to plan a retreat to New York.
Summer in New York can be quite warm though, so you’ll want to keep that in mind when planning your stay. Spring and fall are typically milder.
On the other hand, if you’re planning a yoga retreat in upstate New York, remember that the winters can be very cold and snowy.
Sticking with the warmer months will help allow you to still enjoy spending time outside and taking in the gorgeous scenery.
If you like colorful fall foliage, you may want to consider planning your yoga retreat in the fall to take in the serenity and splendor of the different leaf colors.

Yoga retreats in New York can help you re-center yourself and prepare you for all the challenges life throws at you.
New York is a beautiful state with many peaceful and quiet areas away from the hustle and bustle of the city, which makes for the perfect yoga vacation.
However, these more rural areas are still close enough to downtown that you can extend your stay if desired to explore all that New York City has to offer and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Attending a Yoga Retreat in New York? Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!
As with any other kind of physical activity, joining a yoga retreat is not without its risks. While yoga is generally safe, accidents and injuries can happen anywhere and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be prepared for the worst, especially when you’re in a foreign country.
That’s why travel insurance is so important and you should never leave home without it! I use and recommend SafetyWing travel medical insurance for travelers, remote workers, and nomads.
They cover overseas medical assistance in case of accident or illness, a wide range of sports and activities including yoga, travel delay or interruption, lost checked luggage, emergency medical or political evacuation, natural disasters, and personal liability, at very competitive prices.
