Best Time to Go on a Yoga Retreat in Thailand
Sold on the idea of enjoying a relaxing and centering Thailand yoga retreat, but wondering when the best time to travel to the country is?
Generally speaking, November through early April is considered the best time to visit Thailand. This is the cool and dry season, where the temperature will typically be between 84 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit (29 and 36 degrees Celsius).
Of course, each region of the country will have a slightly different climate, so you may want to do some comparisons before booking your trip.
For example, if you’re planning to visit Koh Samui, in the Lower Gulf, be aware that the monsoon season here occurs only from October to December.
If you plan to travel to Thailand from March through June, prepare yourself for much warmer temperatures. Depending on where you travel, you may find that the thermometer reads into the upper 90s or even over 100 degrees (upper 30s degrees Celsius).
The middle of June through the middle of October is the inland rainy season in Thailand. During the rainy season, there may be patches of sunny weather, but there can also be monsoons with very heavy rainfall.
That being said, I traveled to Thailand in July and the rain didn’t bother me at all. It usually happens only once a day for an hour or two in the evening.
Besides traveling in the rainy season also means fewer tourists and cheaper prices.

Attending a Yoga Retreat in Thailand? Don’t Forget Travel Insurance!
As with any other kind of physical activity, joining a yoga retreat is not without its risks. While yoga is generally safe, accidents and injuries can happen anywhere and, if you’re anything like me, you’ll want to be prepared for the worst, especially when you’re in a foreign country.
That’s why travel insurance is so important and you should never leave home without it! I use and recommend SafetyWing travel medical insurance for travelers, remote workers, and nomads.
They cover overseas medical assistance in case of accident or illness, a wide range of sports and activities including yoga, travel delay or interruption, lost checked luggage, emergency medical or political evacuation, natural disasters, and personal liability, at very competitive prices.
